Dr. Alfredo Esguerra Evangelista was a Filipino anthropologist who became one of the pioneers and director of National Museum of the Philippines. In the development generation of field archeology, Evangelista discovered several cultural artifacts which are now considered as landmarks of the Philippine history. He was married to Perfecta G. Evangelista and had 3 children. Evangelista found the earliest primary burial sites in the country, approximately 5,580 years old, in Duyong Cave, Palawan and the Laguna Copper Plate, the earliest-known legal document in the country. These are considered as important breakthroughs of Philippine history. He also recovered two pieces of the only existing prehistoric cloth from boat burial coffins on Banton Island in the Philippines. They are currently considered as part of the National Cultural Treasures.
