Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio is recognized for his significant works in the field of Genetics specifically by leading the innovative efforts in the use of rice to boost micronutrient intake among the poor by developing rice varieties with enhanced iron and zinc in the grain. Consumption of these varieties will help reduce anemia among peoples whose staple is rice. He is also credited for the use of biotechnology, especially molecular marker techniques, in rice improvement for tolerance to adverse soil conditions. He has been training and supervising students and research fellows in the Philippines and developing countries on the newly emerging technologies for crop improvements.
