Dr. Hernando "Jethro" Siy Salapare III (born 04 March 1984, Tigaon, Camarines Sur) is recognized for his important contributions in the field of plasma physics. He was a former instructor of Physics at the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Salapare obtained his BS Applied Physics and MS Physics degrees from the University of the Philippines in 2007 and 2010, respectively. His Doctor of Philosophy in Physics (PhD Physics) degree was obtained both from the University of the Philippines Diliman and the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis in Nice, France in 2013. He was awarded the 2008 Leticia Shahani Award for Best Undergraduate Thesis in Applied Physics and the 2010 Most Outstanding Master of Science Graduate of the College of Science, University of the Philippines Diliman. Salapare was elected as a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). Among the principal mandates of NRCP is the provision of assistance for the development of the research capabilities of Filipino scientists. It also acts as an advisory body in select priority sectors to the national government on problems and issues affecting the country . Salapare is also a regular member of the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines). Salapare is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Univérsite Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nice, France. He had several publications in ISI-indexed journals, international circulated book, and proceedings of international and local conferences in Physics related to his work on Plasma Physics, Surfaces and Interfaces, and Materials Science.
