Dr. Ponciano Halos is recognized of his various researches in plant pathology – his study on mango fruit rots helped pave the way for the exportation of blemish-free mangoes; his pioneering work on the interaction of endomycorrhizas and rhizobia in plants; for integrated approaches in controlling plant diseases; and the successful publication of a useful reference book on Philippine phytopathology.
